VINITA, Okla. (AP) -- Volunteers will hit the shores of Grand Lake June 9th as part of the third annual cleanup effort there. The event is designed to make the lake's shoreline more beautiful for people and wildlife.
Grand Lake officials say wildlife and waterfowl can be killed or injured when entangled in debris like discarded fishing line or plastic "six-pack" holders. They also can sometimes mistakenly swallow materials they mistake for food.
Dumpsters will be placed at Cedar Oaks Storage Units in Grove, at Baker's R.V. Ranch near Ketchum and at Lakemont Shores Marina.
