CONCORD, N.C. (AP) -- Ryan Newman will start from the pole for Sunday's Coca-Cola 600 at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

Newman had a top lap of 185.312 miles per hour, about .25 of a second faster than Kurt Busch. Elliot Sadler and Dale Earnhardt make up the second row, just ahead of Matt Kenseth and Denny Hamlin.

Nextel Cup points leader Jeff Gordon qualified 32nd.
