MEDFORD, Okla. (AP) _ Grant County prosecutors have charged a former sheriff's office dispatcher with four felony and one misdemeanor count of embezzlement.

Leisa Ann Brittain is accused of fraudulently appropriating money posted as bond for inmates in Grant County in 2004 and 2005, according to the charges.

According to an Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation affidavit, Brittain, 28, took $3,113 and falsified receipts. She kept partial amounts of cash bonds from July 2004 to April 2005, officials allege.

When asked by OSBI agent Charles Dancer about a discrepancy for a bond that had been posted April 12, 2005, she said she didn't now why the deposit was short, the affidavit states.

About $500 was missing from the Grant County treasurer's office for a bond that had been posted April 12, 2005.

Each felony count is punishable by up to a year in county jail, a fine of no more than $5,000 and restitution. The misdemeanor carries a penalty of up to a year in county jail, a fine of up to $1,000 or both.

Brittain was charged in December with forging Sheriff Roland Hula's name on two checks, writing four other checks and using the money for her personal use.
