FAY, Okla. (AP) -- Two people have died after a collision between a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer in far western Blaine County, authorities said.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said that two people from Vici, Everrett E. Vancampen, 62, and Sherlyn Kay Vancampen, 61, died after the accident, which happened about 11:25 a.m. on Saturday at the junction of U.S. Highway 270 and State Highway 58, near the community of Fay and about nine miles west of Watonga.
Troopers said Everrett Vancampen was driving the pickup east on U.S. 270, while the tractor-trailer, driven by Waymond Lee Hall, 63, of Elk City, was southbound on the state highway. Troopers said Hall failed to yield from a stop sign and his tractor-trailer was struck by the pickup.
Everrett Vancampen and Sherlyn Vancampen were pronounced dead upon arrival at hospitals in Oklahoma City and Watonga, respectively. Another passenger in the pickup, Amy L. Vancampen, 23, of Woodward, was injured and taken to an Oklahoma City hospital.
Hall was not injured.
