An Edison Prep 8th grader got a big surprise at school on Friday. Hannah Shoenhard was chosen as Oklahoma's winner of the Igniting Creative Energy Challenge. Students had to develop creative ways to conserve energy and protect the environment. Hannah's poster promoted the use of solar energy.
"I was at my grandma's house and she has a bunch of potted plants and I was wondering what I was going to do for the project, then I thought well duh, plants use solar energy, so I drew a plant with solar panels for leaves," 8th grader Hannah Shoenhard said.
Hannah's winning project earned her a $1,000 check and an MP3 player.
