Green Country residents got to see first hand what makes the Oklahoma Highway Patrol elite. The Highway Patrol held an open house Saturday at its Troop B headquarters. Troopers were showing off all the different lifesaving and high-tech equipment they use. The bomb squad even held demonstrations with its robot.
One trooper says some people have the misconception that troopers only write tickets and work accidents.
"The Highway Patrol has changed over the years. We have a lot of new divisions. We like to come out periodically and show off our equipment. You know, when the public has any questions on it, let them kinda see hands on and actually experiment with some of the stuff we have," Trooper Kera Philippi said.
Trooper Philippi says recruiters were also on hand on Saturday. She says the Highway Patrol is always looking for good people who want to serve the public.
