JUPITER, Fla. (AP) -- Devil Rays prospect Wade Davis threw his second seven-inning no-hitter in two seasons Friday night, striking out six in Class-A Vero Beach's 4-0 victory over Jupiter in the Florida State League.
Davis (2-0) faced the minimum until a two-out walk in the sixth inning. The 6-foot-5 right-hander lowered his ERA from 2.16 to 1.73.
The seven-inning game was the second of a doubleheader. The first game was the final five innings of a game started Wednesday.
The 21-year-old Davis, the Devil Rays' third-round draft pick in 2004, also threw a no-hitter on Aug. 31, his final start last season for Southwest Michigan of the Midwest League.
