OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Supporters of a project to build a memorial to the USS Oklahoma at Pearl Harbor have raised $600,000 dollars but say they need another $400,000.
The battleship Oklahoma capsized after being hit by Japanese torpedoes during the attack on Pearl Harbor with 429 sailors killed.
The number of deaths is second only to the USS Arizona but unlike the Arizona the Oklahoma has no permanent memorial.
A dedication ceremony for a memorial to the Oklahoma is scheduled for December 7th at Pearl Harbor and supporters say they need the $400,000 within three months to be sure the project isn't delayed.
