STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) _ Oklahoma State's baseball team will not be penalized for having a low academic progress rate because the school received a penalty waiver.
The Cowboys had a three-year average of 852 in data released by the NCAA Wednesday. That's well below the 900 score needed to avoid severe historical penalties.

However, associate athletic director for compliance Scott Williams says the baseball team showed significant progress by posting a 942 APR last season. That resulted in the NCAA granting Oklahoma State a waiver preventing it from receiving a three-year probation.

Schools that fail to reach the NCAA's academic standards can eventually lose scholarships, practice time and be banned from the postseason or from Division One entirely.

Oklahoma State's men's golf and men's tennis teams recorded perfect APR scores.
