OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Bobby Murcer knows what its like to lose a teammate and that the emotions the Saint Louis Cardinals feel after the death of reliever Josh Hancock won't soon go away.
The same day the Oklahoma City native delivered an emotional eulogy for dear friend and teammate Thurman Munson, Murcer returned to the field and carried the New York Yankees to dramatic, come-from-behind victory 28 years ago.
Murcer was honored by Oklahoma City University at a banquet tonight, one day before he returns to his job as a team broadcaster with the Yankees.
A winner of three Emmys as a broadcaster, he has missed the first month of the season after having surgery on a malignant brain tumor in December.
He's looking forward to getting back to the booth, but his thoughts also were with the Cardinals.
Murcer says a baseball team is a family. He says he thinks the Cardinals will surround each other, comfort each other and support each other.
