NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma forward Amanda Thompson is expected to be able to return to practice in September after having reconstructive surgery on her right shoulder.
The Sooners had hoped Thompson wouldn't need surgery, but an MRI showed enough damage that the procedure was needed.
Team orthopedic surgeon Doctor Don McGinnis performed the surgery on April 12th. Thompson was expected to be in a sling for about three weeks before beginning rehab exercises.
She's expected to return to full practice in September.
Thompson started ten of the Sooners' 33 games last season as a freshman. She averaged 5.7 points and 5.2 rebounds.
She had been wearing a shoulder harness after injuring the shoulder in January, but it slipped out of socket again during practice before the Big 12 tournament in March.
