OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Truck drivers and anti-illegal immigration groups met at the state Capitol Monday to protest a Bush administration plan to let Mexican trucks haul freight into the United States.
The plans announced in February would allow 100 Mexican trucking companies travel beyond the current 20-mile limit as part of a one-year pilot project.
Trucker Jay Riley of Yukon says allowing Mexican trucks to travel deeper into the U.S. will increase drug trafficking, expose Americans to safety risks, promote illegal immigration and even allow terrorists easy access to the country.
