OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- An analysis of federal data shows more than 500 violent crimes and nearly 100 arrests for illegal weapons possession on or near Oklahoma college campuses during a recent three-year period. The information from 2003 through 2005 shows offenses including forcible sex crimes, robberies and aggravated assaults.
The research also found college students are less likely to be a victim of violent crime than other people their age who don't attend college.
Campus crime is again an issue after a Virginia Tech student killed 32 people last week before committing suicide.
Oklahoma colleges and universities are re-evaluating their security plans and Governor Brad Henry has appointed a task force to study campus safety.
