DURANT, Okla. (AP) -- A Durant man stops and successfully detains another man whom authorities say tried to break into the first man's home.
Durant police say the incident happened Thursday night.
The police report says that the home's tenant, Doyle Pair, had noticed two men across the street from the home, and that Pair said one of them was watching Pair's children.
The report says Pair left on an errand, and his wife called to tell him that man was in their yard. It noted Pair's wife took the children inside the home and locked the door, which the man was trying to force open.
Pair told police that when he returned home, the man was exiting the porch and that Pair told the man to stop.
The report says that Pair thought he was about to be attacked, so he punched the man and held him down until police arrived.
On Friday, 55-year-old Jimmy Clyde Shores of Coleman was charged with attempted first-degree burglary.
