A convicted child molester is sentenced to a century behind bars. He was convicted of molesting his teenage stepdaughter. The victim’s father was very happy with the decision, but his road to justice for his daughter has been far from easy.
Darold Wright says he found out about two and a half years ago that his daughter was molested by her stepfather, James Willhite. Wright says his daughter told him she'd been molested and raped for a number of years. Willhite was arrested in February of 2006, but Wright was concerned his daughter would never get her day in court because of scheduling and procedural delays.
Forty-two-year-old Willhite finally went to trial last month, and a jury convicted him of indecent exposure, two counts of lewd acts to a child and first-degree rape. On Thursday, a Wagoner County judge sentenced him to serve 100 years as punishment for those crimes.
Assistant District Attorney Grant Huskey says the verdict and the sentence show that the people of Wagoner County will not tolerate adults who violate children.
