Police are still looking for two suspects in connection with a pawnshop murder that took place one week ago Friday. Police have recovered the murder weapon they believe was used to kill employee Cody Holmes. News On 6 crime reporter Lori Fullbright reports an affidavit says the one man who's turned himself in admitted he pawned the Smith and Wesson 357 revolver at another pawnshop on the very same day of the shooting.
Records show Marcel Frazier told police he took the gun to a Cash America pawn at 11th and Memorial. Detectives got a search warrant to recover the gun and did so two days ago. Now, it will be tested to see if it is actually the murder weapon. Police are still looking for the man they believe pulled the trigger, Marquaillo Holbert. They suspect he's on the run, perhaps in Texas. The victim's family deeply appreciates the community's outpouring of support, but is in the midst of great pain.
"I'm hurt. I'm at a loss,†said Holmes’ mother Darlene Patton. “The greatest gift is your children. The greatest loss is losing them. I just can't find the words."
Holmes’ family wants something good to come out of this tragedy. They have started a trust fund in Holmes’ name in hopes of donating some money to the police department and to the ROTC, which Holmes belonged to in high school.
