HOUSTON (AP) The suffering St. Louis Cardinals get a win.
Albert Pujols hit a 2-run homer to snap out of a 1-17 slump. And, Kip Wells outpitched college teammate Jason Jennings as the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Houston Astros 10-1 Sunday in Houston.
Scott Rolen had a 3-run double and Yadier Molina added a 2-run double in the 9th inning off Houston closer Brad Lidge. Rolen and Molina also had RBI singles earlier.
Wells (1-1), a Houston native, allowed 1 hit and struck out 7 in 7 innings. He retired the last 16 batters he faced after hitting Chris Burke with a pitch in the 2nd.
The 2006 World Champion Cardinals are getting a slow start to the 0-7 season. This is only their second win so far.
