UNION CITY , Okla. (AP) -- Two people died Saturday when fire swept through a house, authorities said.
The names and ages of those killed weren't immediately released, although broadcast reports said the two killed were young children. Two people survived and were able to get out of the house.
Firefighters in the Canadian County town received a call about 2 p.m. that a residence was on fire, Fire Chief Fred Allen said.
"When we got here, it was pretty much engulfed," Allen said. "There was not a whole lot anybody could do."
Firefighters from Minco and El Reno helped Union City battle the blaze.
"It took a toll on us," Allen said. "We appreciate everybody coming in."
