The 15 year-old girl is now in critical condition after she fell off a moving car and hit her head on the street, said police. News On 6 anchor Omar Villafranca spoke to a witness who saw the girls horsing around before the accident. He reports the man has a message for parents.
Tulsa police and paramedics rushed to the scene after a 15 year-old girl fell off a moving car Wednesday evening. The 27 year-old driver told police she let several girls ride on the hood of her vehicle.
"Just a sad situation, adults acting like children," said Tulsa Police Sergeant Mike Williams.
Terry Rainwater lives a few houses down from where the accident happened. He says he saw the car, full of girls, driving up and down the street. He says the girls were also talking to a group of boys outside a house. Rainwater says the more they drove by, the more they acted up.
"The second or third time they were hanging out the windows and exchanging words with them,†he said.
Rainwater saw the driver pull into his neighbor’s driveway to turnaround and head back towards the boys, but this time, they were not just hanging out the windows.
“And the next time I saw them come by, there were a couple of them on the hood and one on top of the car," Rainwater said. "The next thing I knew, the ambulance was coming. One of them had fallen off the car."
Rainwater has four kids of his own and says the accident should have never happened, especially with an adult in the car. He has this advice for parents.
"Know what your kids are doing and who they're with."
The 27 year-old driver of the car might still face charges. Meanwhile, the 15 year-old girl is stable in critical condition at a Tulsa hospital.
