An animal control officer is free on $5,000 bond after she was arrested for shooting and wounding a dog in the Washington County community of Copan. County prosecutors have charged Carlotta Gail Evans of Copan with one count of cruelty to animals.
Authorities say Evans went to a home in Copan to warn the dog's owners about the animal chasing children. Sheriff's deputies say when Evans drove away, the dog chased her vehicle.
Investigators say Evans stopped and shot the dog twice in the leg. A Bartlesville veterinarian treated the dog, and its leg was amputated.
