A group of German firefighters are in Tulsa to learn from their American brethren. Thirty volunteer firefighters from Celle, Germany are visiting Oklahoma as part of a sister city program. On Monday they learned how larger American cities respond to emergencies and watched training videos of area firefighters in action.
"I think they have the chance to see how to use the fire trucks and they can remember it and try it in Germany," said Celle Fire Chief Dirk Hiendorff.
Celle is a city of 230,000 and is located about 21 miles northeast of Hanover. Tulsa and Celle became sister cities in 2000.
