STROUD, Okla. (AP) State agents arrest a man in connection with the shooting of a woman who was found laying in the middle of Highway 99 just south of Stroud.

Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agents arrested 62-year-old James Sargent Monday in the shooting of 51-year-old Pam Yarborough.

A motorist spotted Yarborough laying in the road about 6 a.m. Monday and called authorities. She was taken to a Tulsa hospital in critical condition.

After questioning Sargent, OSBI agents booked him into the Lincoln County Jail on a complaint of shooting with intent to kill. Sargent also was arrested for allegedly violating a victim protection order Yarborough had filed against him.
