ARDMORE, Okla. (AP) Carter County authorities recovered the body of a man found wrapped in a tarp and floating in the Washita River.
A local couple driving along State Highway 53 noticed the body about 4 p.m. Friday as they crossed the river, said Sheriff Harvey Burkhart.
"This is definitely a homicide," Burkhart said.
The body, described as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s, was sent to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy, Burkhart said.
Burkhart said the man was wrapped in a tarp and had a plastic bag over his head. He was dressed in a black jacket and an Eskimo Joe's T-shirt.
"We have no missing persons reports in the area that match the description of the victim," Burkhart said.
