NORMAN, Okla. (AP) Oklahoma basketball player Michael Neal is one of nine finalists for this year's V Foundation Comeback Award.

The award is presented by the V Foundation for Cancer Research in memory of the late Jim Valvano. It's given to a male or female basketball player or team which overcomes adversity.

Neal overcame life-threatening brain surgery when he was in junior college and became a JUCO All-American before signing with OU.

This year's winner will be announced during Final Four weekend.
