LAWTON, Okla. (AP) A registered sex offender who has been living across the street from a daycare center in Lawton with permission of the Department of Corrections is now being told to move.
Department spokesman Jerry Massie said on Friday that Perry Ray Patterson was being given until March 23rd to find a new home.
Now Massie says a public outcry about the situation has prompted authorities to tell him to move now.
Sex offenders are prohibited by state law from living within 2,000-feet of a school, park or daycare.
Patters was convicted in 2003 of lewd molestation of a child and served three years in prison.
