DALLAS (AP) _ Oklahoma sophomore Courtney Paris was named the Big 12 women's basketball player of the year.

Paris is also the conference defensive player of the year in a vote by the league's head coaches.

Oklahoma State's Andrea Riley was voted freshman of the year.

Other award winners are Baylor's Bernice Mosby as newcomer of the year and Texas A&M's Danielle Gant wins the sixth man award.

A&M's Gary Blair is the coach of the year.
