ST. LOUIS, Okla. (AP) A natural gas worker was injured in an explosion while working on a pipeline Tuesday morning in Pottawatomie County, authorities said.

The worker, who was not identified, was either welding or cutting a gas line when the explosion happened, Sheriff Kurt Shirey said. The man was flown to an Oklahoma City hospital.

"He was burned pretty badly," Shirey said.

Don Lynch, the county's emergency management director, said the worker suffered burns to most of his body.

Further details on his medical condition were not immediately available.

A fire following the explosion was put out.
