UNDATED (AP) Second-ranked Ohio State has claimed its second straight Big Ten title Sunday, and another accolade could come Monday.
Mike Conley Junior hit a runner with 4-seconds left to give the Buckeyes a 49-48 win over #1 Wisconsin. Conley finished with 11-points and Ivan Harris had a team-high 13 as Ohio state improved to 26-3 overall, 14-1 in the Big Ten.
The Badgers went 0-2 after moving to the top of The Associated Press men's basketball poll last Monday. Those losses should allow the Buckeyes to grab the top spot when the poll is released Monday.
Unranked Maryland has moved closer to securing an NCAA tournament bid by downing #5 North Carolina 89-87. D.J. Strawberry poured in a career-high 27 points, including a layup that put the Terrapins ahead to stay with about 90 seconds left. Mike Jones scored 9-of his 18 points during a 16-3 run that allowed Maryland to wipe out a 12-point deficit in the 2nd half.
