In honor of National Engineers Week, Tulsa area high school students got a chance Thursday to test their science skills.
Students designed boats with light sensitive circuit motors and propellers. They then competed against each other to see just who created the fastest craft.
OSU-Tulsa associate professor of engineering Dr. Carl Latino hopes Thursday’s event will spark some interest in the engineering career field. "We're hoping to get some of these kids excited about engineering and science and these types of fields. I think exposing kids at a younger age gives them an idea of what they might want to do."
Thursday's winners...
Hale High School (Team: Terminal Velocity) First place [6.8 seconds]
Edison High School (Team #1) Second place [7.2 seconds]
Bixby High School (Team: Domination Station) Third place [7.42 seconds]
Edison High School (Team #2) Fourth place [7.45 seconds]
