Of the unpleasant tasks associated with owning a dog, giving him or her a bath is high on the list. The dog is clean, but everything else is a mess, so News on 6 reporter Rick Wells found a place that'll do the clean up for you.
Rudy is part Border Collie part Australian Shepherd, and it’s time for his bath. Rudy’s owners drop him off at the “Sloppy Dog Wash†about once a month because giving him a bath in the tub at home is a bit messy.
"You know he shakes all over, said Rudy’s owner. “You clean up the bath tub and the bath room after you give him a bath."
That's what the patrons of the “Sloppy Dog Wash†are trying to avoid, the mess.
"We provide everything you need except the dirty dog," said Eric Brown.
Brown and his business partner have washed dogs at home too; they don't like it either, that why they opened the “Sloppy Dog Wash.â€
"Did some market research in this area to see if something like this was needed, and it was, so we decided to give it a try," Brown said.
They opened in November and it's catching on. They have a variety of shampoos, towels, brushes and blow dryers. You can wash your dog yourself or just drop them off, and Fido can even get some extra pampering from the employees via a blueberry facial.
"It's a facial cleaning hypo-allergenic tearless shampoo made with avocados and blueberries," said Brown.
The “Sloppy Dog Wash†is open everyday. For more information on their hours and services you can visit their website, www.sloppydogwash.com.
