KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ Memo to any college basketball coach who might be crossing paths with Texas in the next six weeks: Beware a Longhorn freshman whose name is not Kevin Durant.

DJ Augustin made everyone forget -- at least temporarily -- about Durant during the Longhorns' 77-to-68 victory over Iowa State yesterday.

The 5-foot-11 point guard erupted for a career-high 31 points, helping coach Rick Barnes move into a tie with Tom Penders for the most victories by a Texas coach.

And he made Kansas coach Bill Self seem prophetic.

It was Self who said earlier this year that if not for Durant, Augustin would be the one everyone in the Big 12 is raving about.

Coach Sean Sutton's Oklahoma State Cowboys will try to stop Augustin, Durant and the rest of the Texas squad tonight when OSU faces the Longhorns in Austin.
