A 7 year old Nowata County girl is being praised for bringing help to an injured woman exposed to the bitter cold weather.

Erin Owen was out playing when she heard what she thought were calls for help. Turns out, it was coming from her neighbor Dorris Nichols. Nichols fell and broke her hip while watering horses. She was on the soaking wet ground for two and a half hours before Erin heard her yelling.

Erin explains what she did after she got her dad and they found Nichols. "I went and wrapped her up with blankets." Dorrisâ€™ granddaughter Shawna South says, "If she didn't hear her, she would have been laying out there, all night."

Nichols is recovering at a Bartlesville hospital.
