NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ Oklahoma center Longar Longar had heard his coach tell him plenty of times to use his quickness and athleticism to his advantage.
It just took the right kind of effort to get it done.
Longar had his first double-double against Big 12 Conference competition in the Sooners' 75-61 win against Texas Tech on Saturday.
Longar's 19 points and 14 rebounds came against the same Tech squad he was facing earlier this season when he earned a two-game suspension for inadvertently elbowing an opposing player.
A prime opportunity for Longar to show continued progress comes Wednesday when OU (13-8, 4-4) hosts Bedlam rival Oklahoma State (18-4, 4-3), ranked Number 17 in the country.
Against Texas Tech, it was a block by Longar that stiffened OU's defense in a three-point game. OU ended up scoring the final 13 points.
That's the kind of effort the Sooners want to duplicate the rest of the season in crunch time -- starting in the Bedlam game Wednesday night.
