BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (AP) Two Bartlesville firefighters who rescued two girls from a frozen pond are being considered for an award from the Oklahoma State Firefighters Association.
Firefighters Bruce Waterbury and Justin Woodworth fell into the water while trying to save one of the girls from icy water at Jo Allyn Lowe Park.
Firefighters initally received a report that there was a child on the ice at the pond, but later learned that one of the girls was submerged in the frigid water.
The firefighters entered the water to reach the girl, pulling her to safety after using a rescue boat to break the ice.
