A man accused of shooting at a police officer this weekend used a gun that belonged to a retired Tulsa Police officer. News on 6 crime reporter Lori Fullbright explains how the gun ended up in a suspect's hands.

Retired officer Dick Campbell was the victim of a break-in at his house on December 4th. Two of the things taken were his police gun, a 40-caliber glock semi-automatic, and his old police jacket.

"She lost several (dolls) dressed in that 1950's or 60's Hollywood, Marilyn Monroe look or whatever," retired Tulsa officer Dick Campbell said.

Dick Campbell says in addition to his wife's family heirloom dolls stolen during his pre-Christmas break-in, the thieves also took a camera, an antique rifle and his police gun.

He was a Tulsa officer for 32 years.

"Come home, front door was open, ajar, I looked in and saw the doll case disturbed and items on the floor," said Campbell.

He says thieves usually turn stolen items for fast cash to buy drugs, and he was worried where it would end up.

"That was always my worry, that it would be used against a police officer," Campbell said.

And, it nearly was.

Police say Asher Israel-McBee and his buddy, Tommy Clayton, were inside a convenience store Saturday night, filling their pockets with chips. The police showed up, the men ran and police say McBee pulled a gun from his pocket and fired it once at the officer. Luckily it missed, because that gun was the one stolen from Corporal Campbell's home.

Another item taken was Campbell's jacket, police say Nichole Bolles modeled it for friends, and the camera on her birthday. That photo was mailed to someone in the jail. He was already released so jail employees opened it and immediately called TPD. Nichole Bolles now faces a charged of concealing stolen property, in addition to her drug court charges.

Corporal Campbell is glad to get his gun back, but hopes they can still recover his wife's antique dolls.

"One belonged to my grandmother who was born in 1868," said Campbell.

After the officer was shot Saturday night, he officer fired back. It was initially reported that the suspect was hit in the shoulder, he was not, the shot missed. However, he received treatment for a dog bite after a K-9 tracked him down.
