Giles’ Coats for Kids opened their doors Saturday to start their coat distribution. With winter weather at its worst in Green Country the opening couldn't have came soon enough.
Adults and children poured through the doors until 3 p.m. Saturday to receive their coats. Catholic Charities say that they've received more donations than usual this year.
They mentioned making the event a permanent tradition.
"A lot of people have been donating a lot more in memory of Jim Giles,†said Jessica Westfall with Catholic Charities. “We are considering keeping this permanent, as we all know it's not permanent, I think a lot of people are wanting this to become a permanent tradition."
Organizers say that they are always in need of coats, especially children's coats.
