HOUSTON (AP) Rice officials Friday introduced David Bailiff as head football coach of the Owls.
Bailiff takes over for Todd Graham, who quit earlier this month to head Tulsa's football program
Bailiff is a 48-year-old San Antonio native who's coached Division I-AA Texas State the past three seasons – after serving as TCU's defensive coordinator.
Bailiff led Texas State to a 21-15 record and the team's first Southland Conference title -- in 2005.
Rice was 7-6 in Graham's only season and lost to Troy in the New Orleans Bowl.
Bailiff says it's a great day for him and his job is to increase the momentum from last season.
