MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma Congressman Dan Boren is selected to serve on the Financial Services Committee

The committee has jurisdiction over the nation's banking, insurance, real estate, housing and securities sectors.

In appointing Boren Thursday, the House Democratic Caucus granted a waiver to allow him to retain his seats on the Armed Services Committee and the Natural Resources Committee.

Boren says a seat on the Financial Services Committee gives him a seat at the table on issues vital to Oklahoma's economy.

He says banking, housing, insurance and real estate are issues that affect nearly every Oklahoman every day. He says he looks forward to bringing the voice of rural America to the committee.
