OKLAHOMA CITY (AP/KOTV) -- The state Health Department is activating the Oklahoma Medical Reserve Corps to provide health care professionals in storm-damaged areas of the state.
Reserve Corps recruiter Kendal Darby says the McAlester Regional Health Center is asking for volunteer nurses as soon as possible. Darby says she also expects more requests for medical help from other areas hit by the ice storm.
The Reserve Corps was created in 2001 and about 1,700 doctors, doctors' assistants, nurses, dentists and paramedics volunteer to help during disasters.
Those interested in volunteering should contact the Medical Reserve Corps at 1-866-336-5672.
