The founder of the Minutemen Project made a stop in Tulsa on Thursday. He spoke Thursday evening at a rally.
President Bush called Jim Gilchrist’s group "vigilantes" for patrolling the Mexican border.
Jim Gilchrist founded the Minuteman Project in 2004 and News on 6 reporter Omar Villafranca sat down with Gilchrist to talk about illegal immigration.
Gilchrist says first and foremost, it's President Bush fault for not enforcing current immigration laws. The blame doesn't stop there. “Second, blame on those unscrupulous corporate barons who are engaged in the 21st century slave trade. This is a slave trade that is no different than our 1861 pre-Civil War slave trade with those unscrupulous southern plantation owners."
The Minutemen group Gilchrist founded, boasts several thousand members. That includes a Tulsa chapter that is growing in size.
