After an unexpected layoff, Nebraska pays a visit the Oklahoma Sooners Wednesday night.
OU (9-6, 1-2) is looking to snap a three game losing streak, including an 80-69 setback against the Longhorns in Texas last Saturday. Nebraska (11-4, 0-1) has been off since its 71-62 defeat at Iowa State last Wednesday. The Huskers' were scheduled to play Oklahoma State on Saturday, but the match-up was postponed because our recent bad weather prevented OSU from traveling to Lincoln.
This is the 183rd meeting between the Sooners and the Huskers. Oklahoma leads the series 102-80, and has a 58-20 advantage in Norman. Oklahoma had won seven straight before losing twice to Nebraska last season.
Nebraska has averaged 72.9 points per game this season. NU is shooting .510 from the field, .404 from 3-point range and .721 from the line. Oklahoma has one of the top defenses in the conference, they rank second in scoring defense, allowing only 57.5 ppg, and the defense ranks third in field-goal percentage with 38.4.
When the Huskers come to town they will not have to worry about Longar Longar. OU's leading scorer will serve the second of a two game Big 12 suspension on Wednesday. Longar was suspended after throwing an elbow that fractured the eye socket of Texas Tech center Esmir Rizvic January 8th. Without Longar last weekend, senior forward Nate Carter stepped up and now leads OU with 15.3 ppg. On the season, Carter has averaged just 6.6 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.
Oklahoma hosts Nebraska on Wednesday night, tip off is at 7 p.m.
