UNDATED (AP) The top-ranked UCLA Bruins were upset Saturday in Eugene, Oregon, by the Oregon Ducks. Oregon, the nation's 16th ranked school, beat the Bruins 68-66 as Aaron Brooks had 25 points, including the game winning shot with 13 seconds to go.
Each club is now 14-1 on the season.
Duke, the nation's 5th-ranked team in the AP basketball poll, was also upset Saturday, by Virginia Tech, in overtime, 69-67. The loss is a rare home-court defeat for the Blue Devils. Tech's Jamon Gordon hit the game winning basket with 31 seconds remaining. The win gives Tech a record of 11-4 while the Blue Devils drop to 13-2.
#8 Alabama was manhandled by Arkansas, losing 88-61. Three members of the Razorbacks had a big day as Patrick Beverley, Gary Ervin and Sonny Weems each had 18 points. The Razorbacks are now 12-3 while the Crimson Tide fall to 13-2.
The 17th-ranked school, Notre Dame, was upset as well Saturday afternoon. The Irish were beaten in Washington, D.C. by Georgetown, 66-48. The 11-3 Hoyas came out roaring, building a quick 18-2 lead. The loss snapped a twelve game Notre Dame winning streak.
3rd-ranked Florida was a winner. The defending national champion Gators beat Georgia 67-51 as Corey Brewer had 19 points and 10 rebounds. The Gators have won seven straight and are now 14-2.
Ohio State, the 6th-ranked school, had an easy time at Illinois, beating the Illini 62-44. Daequan Cook keyed the attack for the Buckeyes with 13 points while Warren Carter had 11 for Illinois.
13th-ranked Butler had an easy time with Wright State, winning 73-42. A.J. Graves of the Bulldogs had 19 points and has now hit 52 straight free throws.
There is one game Saturday night involving two ranked schools in top-25 college basketball. In that contest, 14th-ranked LSU entertains #18 Connecticut.
In other games featuring ranked schools Saturday night, #7 Arizona is at Washington State, 11th-ranked Texas A&M is home to Kansas State, Nevada, the 21st-ranked school is home to Idaho and 24th ranked Washington has a home game with Arizona State.
