OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A long-time display at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City is being dismantled and given to a city in California.
A B-52 Stratofortress that's been on display at the park for 33 years is being removed as part of a $55-million renovation at the park. The plane is being given to the city of Palmdale, California, and is now being taken apart for the trip west.
Fair General Manager says the renovation at the park took away space to display the bomber that entered service with the US Air Force in 1954. It was put on display at the park in 1973 as an exhibit representing the development of Tinker Air Force Base.
