HOUSTON (AP) Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops is among the five finalists for this year's Paul "Bear" Bryant College Football Coach of the Year Award.
The other four finalists are Bret Bielema of Wisconsin, Lloyd Carr of Michigan, Chris Peterson of Boise State and Greg Schiano of Rutgers.
The award has been given each year since 1957 by the American Heart Association and was named after legendary Alabama coach Bear Bryant in 1986. Bryant died in 1983.
The winner will be chosen by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association and will be announced in Houston on January 11th.
