NEW YORK (AP) Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops has finished third by Jim Grobe of Wake Forest and Greg Schiano of Rutgers in voting for The Associated Press coach of the year award.
Grobe took Wake Forest from three straight losing seasons to an 11-2 record. That after losing his starting quarterback to injury in the first game of the season and his top tailback in the third game.
Schiano led Rutgers to within 1-win of the Bowl Championship Series.
Stoops led OU to an 11-2 season after kicking his starting quarterback and an offensive lineman off the team just before fall practice and losing running back Adrian Peterson to injury midway through the season.
