Two people were hospitalized after a head-on collision on the Turner Turnpike.

The driver of a pick up was westbound in the eastbound lanes on the Turnpike Saturday night, said Troopers. The driver, identified as Troy Rout of Crescent, hit an eastbound vehicle, officials said.

Rout and the driver of the car were both taken, by helicopter, to St. Francis hospital. Rout has head and internal injuries, but is expected to be fine. The other driver has extensive injuries, but is listed in fair condition, Troopers said. A passenger in the car was treated and released.

There is no word if alcohol was involved in this accident, Troopers continue to investigate.
