TULSA, Okla. (AP) A district judge from Tulsa nominated for a federal judgeship will have to wait a little longer before starting his new job.

Federal lawmakers adjourned Saturday without voting on a number of judicial nominations after a standoff between two U.S. senators.

The confirmation of Gregory Frizzell was among those that were derailed by the impasse. Frizzell is giving up his post on the Tulsa County District Court to accept the federal appointment.

A frustrated Oklahoma Senator Jim Inhofe says he's confident that Frizzell's nomination would be resubmitted by the White House and receive a confirmation vote early in the new Congress.

Inhofe says Frizzell's nomination and several others were turned into leverage in the standoff between Republican Senator Sam Brownback of Kansas and Democrat Patrick Leahy of Vermont.
