WASHINGTON (AP) -- The number of students eating free or reduced price breakfasts in Oklahoma schools increased by more than 4 percent last year.
The state now ranks seventh in the nation in the percentage of students who take part in the federal program.
A report from the Food Research and Action Center says nearly 148,000 Oklahoma students eat the free or lower priced breakfasts. More than 267,000 Oklahoma students take part in the free or reduced price lunch program.
West Virginia leads the nation in the percentage of students enrolled in the program that's run by the federal Department of Agriculture.
