MERLIN, Ore. (AP) A big development in the search for a man who's been missing three days in some rugged Oregon terrain.
Oregon State Police say they found a pair of pants matching the description of what James Kim was wearing when his family last saw him. They turned up at the bottom of a canyon Tuesday. One official says it could be a sign that Kim was trying to indicate the path he was taking.
Kim is the focus of a search involving some 100 people. His wife, along with their two daughters, was found Monday, and she says they haven't seen him since Saturday. That's when he set out to find help.
The family got lost while on vacation and their car got stuck. After using all the gas running the heater, they burned the tires to stay warm in subfreezing conditions.
Crews have been trying to follow Kim's tracks, even crisscrossing a river.
