NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops is one of nine finalists for an annual national coaching award presented by the Football Writers Association of America.

Joining Stoops as a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award are Houston Nutt of Arkansas, Greg Schiano of Rutgers, Jim Grobe of Wake Forest, Art Briles of Houston, June Jones of Hawaii, Lloyd Carr of Michigan, Bronco Mendenhall of Brigham Young and Chris Petersen of Boise State.

FWAA members will vote on the award. The winner will be announced Jan. 5 in Glendale, Arizona, in conjunction with the Bowl Championship Series title game.

OU is 10-and-2 this season and will play Nebraska on Saturday in the Big 12 Conference title game.

Stoops won the award in 2000 after he guided the Sooners to the national championship.
